A day out introducing Elliott and Mads to outdoor trad climbing whilst in the Peak District for the Alpkit Big Shakeout. We started on couple of shorter routes before a trip up Black and Tans. They seemed to particularly enjoy smearing!
An absolutely magical crag, set in an improbable location near Roche, St Austell. A nice selection of routes topping out into the ruins of an old monastery. We were joined at the crag by seemingly every youth under 15 in the county.
A small warm up to mountain life in Uzbekistan with Erinna - climbing at the local crag near Chimgan. Forget the tick marks here, you can leave the whole guidebook at home and just follow the huge paint lines up the route! We rode a lap of the Chimgan Cable Car to finish, an experience far more scary than top roping on dubious anchors and loose rock.
A very hot day for touring, and a trip to the summit of Rauschberg for Will & I via the long forest path. Some good traversing practice for the splitboarder saw us to the top of the Roßgasse for a short powder descent on the 35° slope back to the car. A popular tour with the locals it seems!
A day out in Saalbach, where Doug and I hunted out the best off piste descents to drag the unsuspecting Georgia through. The plan worked perfectly.
Winter is back! Sadly too fast for our climbing aspirations, so Martin and I resorted to chest deep powder swimming on our way up to the summit of Schärtenspitze. Nice to take the axes and cams for a walk though!
