Helvellyn Range

Julie, Lina and Rory fancied a long day without anything "scary". So I thought it worth doing a traverse of the Helvellyn range from Threlkeld to Dunmail Raise (leg 2 of the BG round). I'd never attempted to use the Lake District bus network to complete a linear route and it worked surprisingly well!

Ridges of Snowdonia

Poor visibility and high winds enveloped much of North Wales for the weekend. I took Julie, Lina and Rory on their first trip over Crib Goch, followed by a traverse of the Nantlle Ridge on the Sunday. Given their lack of scrambling experience and fear of the exposure they handled the damp rock very well!

Lake District Adventures

A weekend introducing Julie, Lina & Rory to hiking and scrambling in the Lake District. Saturday was a long day making the trip from Honister over Great Gable to Scafell Pike and back (it was also Norway Day). We spent Sunday in Langdale on Pavey Ark (Jack's Rake) before the long drive home queuing all the way down the M6.

Intro to Scrambling

As an intro to mountain scrambling, I took Julie, Lina and Rory on two of the classic Snowdonia days out. Saturday was the Crib Lem Spur to Carnedd Dafydd, accompanied by a puppy who decided that farm life was boring and wanted a day out! On Sunday we climbed Tryfan's north ridge in fantastic mid-season sunshine with just a sprinkling of summit snow.
