Walking to Bristol

On a map, Bristol and Bath can't be too far apart. So why catch a train when you can walk between them? Leaving just before darkness from Bath at 3pm, we managed about 9 miles to Keynsham before we'd had enough of stumbling around in the dark and caught a train. Not all adventures end in success!

Offa's Dyke in the Rain

Myself, Simon and Matt set off from Oldcastle for 2 days of backpacking across Offa's Dyke. Up on top, the rain and wind so horrendous that we abandoned our plans, and after 20km+ along the Welsh-English border we were back in the car and off to the pub. It was so wet, we didn't take a single photo.

Scrambles on Tryfan

Grooved arete is a brilliant 7 pitch climb up the side of Tryfan in Snowdonia. My partner for the day, Matt, had never climbed outdoors before (I taught him to belay as we geared up), owned no rock shoes and had two arms which were very prone to dislocation. So to make it fair, I led the route in B2s as well, which made for a much more exciting day out.
