Demo Route
An early evening rush with Ross to Demo Route after the rain cleared. Being a military man, he insisted we followed it up with Civvy Route, fortunately for his career he got the lead clean.

Day 2 with Tom, Ros and Erinna. We descended from the Simonyhütte right down to the valley floor - an excellent test of the gradient limits of snowshoes and the differences between our Decathlon and Hobbs models. A long, fun, powdery day out!
We had two nights at the Wiesbadenerhütte and another forecast of heavy cloud, snow and no visibility. To make the most of the day we skinned up the hill for an hour and spent the next three digging a large snow cave into the slope. It was a pretty incredible palace.
A thick white-out enveloped the whole glacier all day, forcing us to abandon our trip up the Wyssnollen. Instead, we resorted to my second favourite winter activity, digging!
On Matt and Anja's final weekend with us we hiked up the south side of Hochkönig on snowshoes, dug a big tunnel in the snow and then built a long slide to zoom through it at speed. Wahoooooooo! Beautiful snow shoeing in the mountains under an hour from our house.
Unable to rope any of my friends into climbing in the blustery cold conditions, I decided it was a great chance to get out climbing with my cousin Joe again. We hiked up to Dinas Cromlech for a quick hit on the two classic rock VDiffs. I'd never climbed them before, but Flying Buttress in particular was an excellent route that I'd happily come back to and solo again.
