Snow shoe in Ramsau
Another snow shoe adventure with Erinna, after driving as far up the roads of Berchtesgaden as our little car would manage. Like a good orienteer, Erinna always managed to nuzzle her way through the best paths in the powder.

Some pretty incredible conditions up in the Lake District over the weekend. Extensive snowfall and clear sunshine had left the hills covered in great powdery drifts. Totally out of condition for climbing mind, although it didn't stop Will & Harry from backing off of a route or two.
Doug and Georgia were here to visit for the weekend, so I took the chance to perfect my snowplough technique with Erinna for lessons 3 and 4! We moved onto the beginnings of parallel turns and use of poles before she retired to a cafe and hot chocolate for the afternoon.
Louise, Cat and I set off on a two day adventure to the Carl von Stahl-Haus on snow-shoes. The poor weather on the approach laid down the powder for a glorious Sunday ascent of Schneibstein. We hadn't brought any avalanche gear so opted to retrace our steps rather than risk the descent from Windscharte onto the Stiergraben. A superb two day outing - thanks for visiting again!
Cat, Louise and I tried to make a start on Dolmen Buttress but the extensive coverage of soft snow on the ledges was making progress pretty spicy. So we abseiled off and went for a scramble up Main Gully instead, a reliable route for all conditions with a heave over the chockstone as exciting as ever!
A day out to the Plombergstein with Martin a.k.a Mr So Solid. Two routes with many pitches of smooth limestone, interspersed with a couple of pitches of dense jungle.
