Igloo on Crib Goch

With the snow too soft to climb, I set off across Crib Goch with Tom and Katherine for a winter traverse in the cloud. Half way along, building an igloo large enough to stand up in and stand on top of seemed like a better plan, so we did.

In search of Chaukhi Mountain

The village of Jutta, at 2150m in the Georgian Caucasus' was inaccessible by road due to multiple avalanches and rock fall. So we hiked in for an hour from the valley floor, and then set off in search of Chaukhi Mountain. Progress towards the impressive 3842m craggy mass was hampered by heavy snowfall, and after 5 hours we returned back to the village and car.

Intro to Scrambling

As an intro to mountain scrambling, I took Julie, Lina and Rory on two of the classic Snowdonia days out. Saturday was the Crib Lem Spur to Carnedd Dafydd, accompanied by a puppy who decided that farm life was boring and wanted a day out! On Sunday we climbed Tryfan's north ridge in fantastic mid-season sunshine with just a sprinkling of summit snow.

Last Great Climb: Premiere

My first ever film premiere, walking up the red carpet with Leo & Al (sort of) in Leicester Square for the latest Berghaus film premiere. It was a brilliant film, climbed and shot in some brutally cold conditions, highly recommended if you get a chance to see it!

Lion and the Lamb

The snow was being stripped fast on Sunday, so rather than climb we headed up to the Lion and the Lamb for a ramble over the crags and hills near Grasmere.

Microadventure, with wine

In true Alastair Humphreys style we left work, went to the climbing wall for a bit, nipped home to grab three bottles of wine then headed to the hills of Burton Dassett. Seemingly the only high point in the whole of Warwickshire, we trudged up the 45m walk from the car park to bivy site and settled in for the night.
