Bristly Ridge Winter

A clear day down low but blustery and snowy up high. Clay, Emily and I went for a day out up Bristly Ridge, plastered in unconsolidated snow which was great fun to romp through. On top, the weather was significantly more windy and we stumbled back down the scree slopes after a quick trip to the summit. Photos courtesy of Clay & Emily.

Bristol Street Race

Something different, Cat, Louise and myself ran the Bristol Orienteering Street Race in the morning which Erinna was helping to organise. Despite our initial fears, we avoided all of the purple lines and nobody got disqualified!

Brunnkogel Nordwestgrat

We'd intended to climb the Vöcklabrucker Pfeiler on Brunnkogel, but the late season season made the approach so difficult that we ended up on the Nordwestgrat by mistake. After a lot of confusion in the mist we decided to head back down, at which point the weather promptly cleared. A good day's hike, if not a very productive climbing day.

Buachaille Etive Mor

We thought we'd have time for one more route before flying home to Bristol that evening, but the approach to the Buchaille took much longer than expected on steep wet slabs coated in snow. So we turned back at the base of the route. A nice stretch in the mountains!

Cadair

One last day out before 2017 rolls in! A damp, misty ascent of Cadair Idris. Beautiful, panoramic views below the clouds. Terrible views within them.

Cadair 3 Ways

A roasting hot wild camp+climb adventure with Cat and Louise in southern Snowdonia. There's not much else in the area that's very tall, so we decided to make the trip longer by hiking Cadair three times. Step 1 was to start from the south side and traverse the mountain to a camp by Llyn y Gader. The next morning we were up early to climb Cyfrwy Arete and Table Direct, before descending to our bags at the base and then summiting once more from north > south. Very sweaty, very fun.
