Via Corda Alpina

Wet weather in Chamonix? You could do much worse than Via Corda Alpina - 600m of easy slabs up the rising ridgeline above the Arveyron Gorge. We made a leisurely afternoon ascent in big boots on small smears.

Via Ferrata - Zermatt

For some, its a high intensity sport in its own right. For climbers, via ferrata feels more like a relaxing day off. The route on the cliffs above Zermatt is steep and exciting and with the threat of rain fast approaching we raced around the relatively strenuous course .

Voie Princesse

Another poor forecast that turned out to be quite a nice day after all! I introduced Matt to a bit of short-roping at the long, rambling routes up Les Mottets, aka taking our rope for a walk. After a quick transfer in to Vallorcine, we managed half a route before the downpour came.

Walcherhorn

A marvellous day of weather in the Bernese Oberland. We were sad to leave Will behind to fix a problem with his skins; the remaining three of us made a day trip to the Walcherhorn across the glacier from our base in the Mönchsjoch Hut.

Walking to Bristol

On a map, Bristol and Bath can't be too far apart. So why catch a train when you can walk between them? Leaving just before darkness from Bath at 3pm, we managed about 9 miles to Keynsham before we'd had enough of stumbling around in the dark and caught a train. Not all adventures end in success!

Wallowbarrow, Lake District

Wallowbarrow Crag

We'd never heard of Wallowbarrow before, and it seemed to be situated in a huge area of the Lakes I'd never set foot in. The sun finally came out and we had a superb day climbing some fantastic routes on brilliant rock in this hidden corner of the Lake District.
